iPod key combinations

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

I can never remember, when it comes to bringing frozen iPod back to life. What was that key combination again? Ok, let ask Google. Again? So we are looking for… “ipod restart keys”. Quite a bad luck.. yeah.. Oh Oh! I got it: “ipod reboot keys”. Bingo! But ok, this time let’s bookmark it:

And by the way, that guy has done a good job. Visually it’s just brilliant.

My new time waster

Saturday, October 21st, 2006

Since we have moved to the present apartment we did not have a telly. For almost 10 months. Absolutely delightful time. No scary news, lame movies or stupid reality shows… But then a few days ago we were like “ok, may be its time?”.

But rather then buying a “normal” tv to occupy the room space i decide to go after more hi-tec solution : a digital tv tuner for my mac.

After consideration all the factors involved, I had two options : Miglia TV Mini or Elgato EyeTV stick. And it was like Style vs Functionallity. The both sticks are of the size not much bigger then a Flash memory card, and Elgato has a clear advantage in design, which blended so well with a MacBook, but on the other hand it received a bit worse reviews. So what to do? Why do we always have to choose between beautiful but useless and ugly but functional? Where are all these geniuses who put both these aspects together?… Anyway, for better or worse, Apple store has done this complicated task for me: they had only Miglia in stock. That actually sucked, but .. whatever.

Plugged it in as soon as I got back home. Installed. Ran the scan, result: 0 channels… Hmm… Plugged in an aerial supplied. 24. Not bad… Put the aerial outside the window and ran the scan again. Bingo! 84 channels. Get rid of the radio channels and some others and you still have around 20 pretty useful ones on a Freeview :) And the quality is brilliant almost all the time. So might record some TV show and copy it straight to the iPod. Sweeeet…

And I mean it. Literally.

Now you can actually hold it on your lap, cause man, this is what it is: a LAPtop. No more burned legs, even with just pants on. Behold, smcFanControl! Download it from http://www.conscius.de/~eidac/ and be the Master of your MacBook fans!

It’s a really amazing tiny piece of software, my baby is so coooool now :)
